moving to colorado

so that was pretty lame to keep you in the dark for so long as to what's going on with us. but being in a new place without internet is also pretty lame. i am happy to report that the ships in ship shape and all is well here in the beautiful state of colorado. we are here in colorado springs, which is also where alma was born and raised.

over conference weekend alma received revelation during Elder Hales talk about where we should live. (here obviously.) yet we still had no idea what we would be doing. he had a really good lead with REI, but because of the economic situation we are currently in they have decided not to hire. so we have been acting on faith. and yes that is a challenge, but not as hard as my mind would normally think it is. we are so blessed and Heavenly Father has always looked out for us to make sure we are taken care of, that it is a lot easier to have faith because of all the other unsure or 'scary' situations we've been in...and they have all turned out okay, better than okay...as huge blessings. so there it was. we will move to colorado. alma left for a quick 2 day trip to find us an apartment, he graduated, i had the baby, and next thing we know it's time to leave.

we decided to buy a trailer to move all our stuff, then sell it when we got here. much more practical than wasting money on a u-haul, extra gas, etc. etc. we were fortunate enough to be able to sell a bunch of our stuff to the apartment complex we managed so that we could just leave it be. had we not had a piano, we may have just sold all our furniture. i was very confident that all of our stuff would fit in our trailer and 2 cars...and i was almost right...almost. there was probably just a carload full of stuff that would not, could not fit, so it is still in that place we were so happy to say farewell to--rexburg. not stuff that we desperately need at the moment, but just stuff that would be so nice to have and that was worth hanging on to (ie: alma's bike, training potty, stepstool, hanging plant, big mirror, bath mats, etc.) alma will make a trip one of these days to go pick the stuff up. our drive consisted of 2 days instead of one. with a newborn needing to eat every 3 hours the trip can get pretty lengthy, or more lengthy that it already is, yikes! we arrived just in time to check in and sleep on our mattresses on the floor.

the past couple weeks have been filled with a lot of unpacking, sleeping/napping, situating, shopping, adjusting, hanging out with family, and just plain goodness. i can't tell you how wonderful it is to play mommy all day long. alma has a new business venture he is starting up with his dad, with hopes of great prospects. but that my friends is a whole different post. so he is working, which is nice, and a great blessing. let's just say he is doing PR for his dad at the moment.

i feel like i have so much to say, and yet not a whole lot because we are still just settling into our new life. but i love our life and life is good. i have many posts to come about our day to day happenings, and hopefully i can find the time to do that in the not so distant future! we are so happy to be onto this next chapter in our lives, but do miss all our friends we left behind. i hope to make new ones soon. it's weird not knowing anybody.

and because posts are always better with a picture (and because anyone who made it to the end of this deserves a little visual treat!), here's a photo of the place we called home for 4 years. not sad whatsoever to have left it, but it was good to us...for the most part.

taken by yours truly :)
